Africa desk- a window to Africa for ACC members

The Andhra Chamber (ACC), a business Association headquartered in Chennai with a history of over nine decades and Quad Investors Advisory LLP, a consulting firm headquartered in New Delhi are joining hands to set up an Africa Desk. The primary objective of the initiative is to promote business links of ACCI members with the African region.

The initiative emanated from the keenness of ACCI to cater to the interests of its members to explore business opportunities in Africa. Over the past 7 years, the two digital platforms hosted by Quad, www.trendsnafrica.com, a 24/7 news portal and information highway on Africa, and fortnightly digital magazine, Africa4U, have been giving regular economic, political, and policy updates on the 54 countries of Africa. Members of ACCI will enjoy free access to the news portal and fortnightly to gain insights about the business scenario including the latest trade and tender inquiries, in the countries of Africa.

The Economic Potential of Africa

Africa is viewed as a continent of opportunities.
  1. It holds 40 percent of the world’s gold and almost 90 percent of its chromium and platinum. 
  2. The largest reserves of cobalt, diamonds, platinum and uranium.
  3. 65 percent of the world’s arable land and ten percent of the planet’s internal renewable fresh water source. 
  4. Eight percent of the world’s natural gas and 12 percent of the world’s oil reserves.
  5. The youngest continent in the world, with 60% of the entire continent aged below 25, 
  6. The IMF has projected Africa to be the second-fastest-growing economic region in the world in 2024.
The continent holds excellent scope for Indian SMEs. These include trade, technology transfer, skill development, and investments in sectors such as Leather, Agriculture and Agro-processing, textiles, E-learning, health care, and pharmaceuticals.
